Liebermann Pottery is a labyrinth of wares from across Africa and Asia. Rows of garden planters are stacked high, sometimes balanced precariously. Here and there are waterpots filled with plants, koi fish, and the gentle tinkle of running water. Porcelain indoor pots, giant wine jars, interesting seconds, and mossy terracotta are all available in abundance. Decades of producing and collecting pottery have created a wonderland of ceramics to be browsed through and marvelled at. Inside rows of bowls, vases and oddities gather dust. Strange old projects from backyard kilns rub shoulders with rare objets d’art and exquisite workmanship by local and international artists. Interesting examples of functional ware, such as kettles designed to be hung over fires or nestled in hot coals, fire pots, storage vessels, and neti pots are all easily missed if you don’t look carefully.
